To design an effective handyman service platform, I conducted research into both customer pain points and artisan challenges. Customers expressed concerns about trust, safety, and transparency, especially when they cannot be physically present during the work. They also want real-time updates, easy communication, and assurance of quality service.
On the artisan side, challenges included difficulty finding consistent work, lack of a structured way to showcase credibility, and limited tools to communicate progress with customers.
I also analyzed existing service marketplaces to identify gaps — most lacked strong progress-tracking features and often left customers uncertain about ongoing work. These insights shaped the design direction towards building a trust-driven, transparent, and easy-to-use platform for both sides.
The design process focused on creating a two-sided experience — one for customers and one for artisans — with a balance of clarity, trust, and usability.
On the customer side, the dashboard was designed to highlight essential information at a glance: upcoming bookings, artisan profiles, real-time progress updates (photos, status logs, checklists), and secure communication. The interface uses a clean layout and intuitive navigation to reduce decision fatigue and build confidence.
On the artisan side, the dashboard emphasizes efficiency and professionalism. Artisans can manage bookings, update job progress, share proof of work, and track earnings in a structured format. This design empowers them to showcase credibility while keeping the customer reassured.
The overall visual style leans on modern simplicity with strong hierarchy, ensuring that the most critical information (status, safety, and payment) is always front and center.
The final design delivers a trust-driven ecosystem for both customers and artisans. Customers gain confidence through real-time tracking, transparent progress updates, and verified artisan profiles. Artisans benefit from streamlined job management, credibility-building features, and clear earnings visibility.
By addressing issues of safety, accountability, and transparency, the solution transforms a basic booking app into a reliable service marketplace that empowers both sides of the platform.

The customer experience centers on clarity — knowing exactly what’s happening with their bookings through progress updates, media proof, and secure communication. On the artisan side, the concept highlights empowerment — giving skilled workers a professional space to manage jobs, showcase credibility, and build long-term trust with clients.
In essence, the concept is to bridge the gap between customer confidence and artisan opportunity, making the service experience seamless, safe, and reliable for both sides.
